LA MESA SALUTES “OLD GLORY” WITH FLAG DAY PARADE JUNE 2

May 11, 2017 (La Mesa) – The City of La Mesa invites you to wear your red, white and blue to salute “Old Glory” at the 20th annual La Mesa Flag Day Parade on Saturday, June 3rd. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. through the La Mesa Downtown Village, led by the United States 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band.

You can cheer on marching bands, active and retired war heroes, equestrian units, service clubs, youth groups and this year’s Grand Marshal: La Mesa Lumber, celebrating 110 years of business. Arrive early for pre-parade concerts by the La Mesa Arts Academy and Parkway Middle School bands starting at 9:00 a.m. along the La Mesa Boulevard parade route.

Visit La Mesa’s Community Relations and Veterans Commission for free ice cream at Legacy Park, on the corner of La Mesa Boulevard, 4th Street and Allison Avenue. In addition to donations from community members, the La Mesa Flag Day Parade is sponsored by Barona Resort and Casino.

All County residents and their families are welcome to share in this free and fun event.

Limited parking is available, public transportation is encouraged. The trolley stop on La Mesa Blvd. is along the parade route.
