May 20, 2012 (La Mesa) -- La Mesa resident Cristy Boisvert is a member of a committee planning the first annual Healthy Living San Diego Expo. Slated for June 2nd at the Scottish Rite Event Center, the event will offer options in our community for healthy living and is geared toward those living with an autoimmune disease or people who want to explore healthy lifestyle options.

“There are over 150,000 people living in San Diego with an autoimmune disease,” said Boisvert. “This expo is a great opportunity to come out and get the latest information and see innovative health-related products and services.” The National Psoriasis Foundation is sponsoring the event with the collaboration and support of other autoimmune disease foundations including the Arthritis Foundation, Diabetes Association, and Lupus Foundation.

Explained Boisvert, “We will have many autoimmune disease organizations represented and present at our event. Together we hope to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in managing autoimmune diseases.”

At the Expo there is an opportunity to sample gluten free and organic fare, partake in a yoga class, hear an inspirational triathlete tell his motivational story of managing his autoimmune disease, listen and talk to healthcare professionals about autoimmune diseases, watch a healthy cooking presentation, win great raffle prizes, plus visit the many vendor tables for information on everything from fitness to acupuncture, diet and relaxation.

The La Mesa volunteer who is helping plan the Healthy Living San Diego Expo is active with the National Psoriasis Foundation. Said Boisvert, “For the four of us this is a labor of love and a commitment to helping those in our community manage their healthcare needs.”
