January 19, 2018 (La Mesa) - If you are wondering whether you have seen this play as a movie, you have not. Mousetrap opened at the Ambassadors Theater in London on November 25, 1952 and never closed. The show has run over 65 years and 27,000 performances.

Producer Peter Saunders sold the movie rights  in 1956 with the provision they could make the movie after the show closed and it never has. Thus a movie has not been made.

Of course, you always want to be right and guess the mystery, yet at the same time, you want to be outfoxed. Neither my mom nor I guessed correctly on this one, meaning the murderer did an amazing job of keeping us in the dark.

Director Keith A. Anderson assembled a great cast. Seven amazing actors bring us a Agatha Christie mystery in true fashion. Everyone is a suspect, with good reason.

Lisette Kent Allen. Nathan Boyer, Bud Emerson, Michael Freeland, Gabriel Huerta, Katherine Sainte Marie, Kara Tuckfield and Brent Williams all pull together for a wonderful evening of mystery and fun. The setting in a guesthouse on a snowy winter day in Berkshire England. The accents were exceptional. The set was homey and Mousetrap is a perfect way to spent a winter evening in La Mesa. The weather may be warm or cold here, but the show leaves you with a cozy, wintry feel, something we need to be reminded of even if for a short time.

If you are looking for your mystery fix or just a fun way to start out the year, Mousetrap is your ticket.

The Lamplighters are partnering with Humane Society for this show. Bring your pet food or cash donations to the show. If you cannot make the show. you can still stop by during a performance and donate.
