LEMON GROVE MAN OPENS FIRE AT INTRUDERS WHO SHOT SON; ONE GUNMAN DEAD, SECOND FLED SCENE

February 7, 2017 (Lemon Grove) – A home invasion turned deadly after two men armed with pistols broke into a home on Edding Drive in Lemon Grove shortly before 2 a.m. 

One of the intruders shot and injured Francisco Suarez, Jr., 22.  His father, Francisco Suarez, 44, fired back and killed one of the gunmen, who died at the scene.

The second intruder fled in a vehicle and remains at large.

Lt. Kenneth Nelson told media that he believes the victims were targeted, but later clarified there is no evidence that the suspects and occupants knew each other, according to 10 News.

Suarez Jr. was taken to a local hospital for treatment of trauma, but his injury is not considered life threatening, Patch.com reports.

The name of the fatally-shot intruder has not yet been released.
