October 7, 2015 (Lakeside)-- The first in a series of community meetings will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015, regarding the planned restoration of the west basin of Lindo Lake.

From 6:30 to 8:30  p.m. a consultant  from County Parks and Recreation will be requesting community input on how to proceed with the restoration under the Lindo Lake Basin Improvement Project.  The meeting will be held at the Lakeside Community Center, 9841 Vine Street in Lakeside.

The report details potential issues that may need to be resolved with the restoration, ranging from noise and traffic, to methods of disposing of the silt which has filled in the Lake.  The outcome of the meetings will help clarify which issues will need to be fully evaluated in the future.

Wildlife left with no water when West Basin is drained

My self and multiple others are tremendously dismayed at the disregard for the wildlife in the planning of the restoration of Lindo Lakes. Many different species of birds migrate to Lindo Lakes and many animals life here. I was told at the planning meeting that the West Basin would be drained and the wildlife would be "relocated". Relocated makes no sense for the pelicans, great egrets, snowy egrets and other birds that live here all year. This is their home and Lindo Lakes was the only natural lake in San Diego County ( before the building of Lake Jennings). No mention was made of the East basin being dredged and filled first before the West Basin is drained. Back in 2013 at the planning meetings , it was understood that the East Basin would be dredged first , but now I was told it is not cost effective. ??
