LOCAL ATHLETES TAKE 9TH PLACE AT U.S. NATIONAL SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

April 16, 2014 (San Diego’s East County)--Members of the San Diego SeaStars Synchronized Swimming Team, which practices in Spring Valley, earned 9th place in the duet event at the 2014 U.S. National Championships.

Held in Oro Valley, Arizona from April 8 to 11, the event featured the top synchronized swimmers in the U.S.. The routine of Ainsleigh Douglas and Alexandra Suarez beat 25 duets  from around the country to place9th in the 13-15 Age Group competition.

Next up for the club is the Age Group Regionals on May 17th in San Diego.  The San Diego SeaStars will be entering a number of routines including Age Group 11-12 Duet, Age Group 13-15 Solos, Duets, and Team, and Junior Solo. 

Synchronized swimming requires a unique combination of strength, agility, endurance, flexibility and speed. The San Diego SeaStars Synchronized Swimming Team practice 3-6 hours per day, 4 days per week at the Mt. Miguel High School pool in Spring Valley.  Elite-level synchronized swimmers typically practice eight hours per day, six days per week.

Join the San Diego SeaStars Synchronized Swimming Team on May 3rd from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Mt. Miguel High School (8585 Blossom Ln, Spring Valley, CA 91977) and be a part USA Synchro de Mayo.  This is a FREE opportunity for all kids of all ages to learn about, experience, and try synchronized swimming and above all have fun! Everyone who attends gets the chance to be a synchronized swimmer for the day!
