MAN ROBBED OF PANTS IN LA MESA

October 6, 2009 (La Mesa) – Two men robbed a transient of his pants and wallet on October 4 at approximately 9:32 p.m. One suspect was located by La Mesa Police officers within minutes after the robbery and assault. The second suspect, a Hispanic man who goes by the name "Alexi," is still outstanding. He is described as approximately 21 years old, weighing 165 pounds.

 

The victim reported that he was walking in the Best Buy parking lot in the 8300 block of Fletcher Parkway, when he was approached by two male suspects who were known by the victim and also described as transients. One suspect punched the man in the face, knocking him to the ground. Both suspects continued punching the victim as he lay on the ground. One removed the victim’s pants, which contained a wallet. The assailants also took his baseball cap.

 

Suspects fled the scene on foot and the victim ran to a nearby fast food restaurant to call police. The victim had swelling on one side of his face and was transported to Grossmont Hospital for treatment.

La Mesa Police officers located one of the suspects minutes later in the 8300 block of Parkway Drive. The suspect was identified as Donald Mowery, 32. Mowery was wearing the victim’s baseball cap and also had the victim’s belt draped around his neck when he was contacted by officers. Officers also recovered the victim’s wallet behind a nearby business.
