MAN IN SPIDERMAN MASK ROBS GAS STATION AT GUNPOINT, KICKS CUSTOMER

May 24, 2013 (La Mesa) –La Mesa Police responded to a robbery report at 1:24 a.m. at the USA gas station in the 7900 block of University.  A suspect wearing a Spiderman mask pulled a black, semi-automatic pistol out and told a customer to lie on the floor, then began kicking the customer, according to police.

The suspect demanded money from the clerk.  The masked man was last seen running northbound on La Mesa Boulevard. The loss was approximately $300 and the clerk was not injured. The male customer left on a bicycle after the robbery and before police arrived; he has not been located.

A search of the area by LMPD and A.S.T.R.E.A. did not locate the suspect and he is still outstanding.

The suspect was described as a black male adult, wearing a red and blue Spiderman mask, a grey t-shirt with white text on the front and dark jeans. He was described as being approximately 5’ 8” tall with a stocky build and 25-30 years old.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is urged to call the La Mesa Police Department at (619) 667-1400.
