February 11, 2017 (San Diego) -- The news of President Trump’s wide reaching immigration ban has stunned the world as well as many Chaldean Christians in San Diego. The ban, which has put a halt to the travels of many Chaldean Christians in San Diego and abroad has been uniformly condemned by Chaldean residents in El Cajon. A ruling suspending the Trump ban has just been upheld by the Court of Appeals.
The Minority Humanitarian Foundation (MHF) President, Mark Arabo issued this statement.
“The Chaldean Christian community of San Diego, and refugees around the world praise the upheld suspension of Trump’s infamous travel ban. We must not turn our backs on the principles that made this nation great. We are a nation of inclusiveness and liberty. And, we must not let our fear get in the way of reasoning. We applaud the judiciary for displaying a clear sign to President Trump—your power will not go unchecked. We hope and firmly expect for the Supreme Court to echo this ruling in the future.”
The Minority Humanitarian Foundation has been a vocal advocate for streamlining processing for religious minorities since the rise of ISIS.
