December 13, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Following an examination, the San Diego Medical Examiner has concluded that Jeffery Martin Andrews, 33, died of sudden cardiac arrest associated with coronary artery atherosclerosis.

Andrews collapsed while hiking in Mission Trails Regional Park on September 7. He was found by a hiker, who asked a jogger to call 911. Santee Fire Department responded to the call and confirmed death without medical intervention.

Earlier media reports had included speculation that Andrews may have succumbed to a rattlesnake bite, however the evidence conclusively indicates that death was from natural causes.
