April 7, 2010 (La Mesa) -- Author, interior designer and local store owner Laurie Ann McMillin Ray is encouraging the 'interior design challenged' to bring in pictures of living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms or home offices that need a makeover. Picture providers will be given a free five-minute 'design-on-a-budget' consultation at her book signing at the Grossmont Center Barnes & Noble from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 17.

In her book, At Home With Laurie Ann, A Decorator's Guide: Turn the Place You Live Into a Home You Love, Ray shares some money saving and easy to apply tips and secrets for designing the home of your dreams on a very limited budget.

“I wrote this book because I wanted to share my knowledge and inspire those who want to make their homes reflections of their personalities and lifestyles,” said Ray. "The pictures help me show folks how, by using simple design secrets, they can jazz up any room in the house without breaking the bank."

Over the past 25 years, Ray has built a following among San Diegans for her unique style that blends old with new and utilizes flea-market finds, florals, and an array of fabrics to create what some might call a “shabby chic” design. Barnes & Noble is located in the Grossmont Shopping Center, 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, suite 311.
