RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR ARSON FIRE IN LA MESA

October 25, 2014 (La Mesa) –La Mesa Police have arrested an arson suspect linked to a fire late last night that displaced eight people from a home in the Rolando area.  Brad Bach, 58, of La Mesa has been booked into county jail for arson of an inhabited structure.  Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $260,000, according to Heartland Fire.

ARREST MADE IN MURDER OF WOMAN FOUND BURIED IN BOULEVARD

October 22, 2014 (Boulevard)—David Williams was arrested in Lakeside on Saturday, October 11th by the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force. He is charged with the murder of Christine Crosby, his former girlfriend whose body was found buried in a shallow grave just east of Mile Marker 29 on Old Highway 80 in Boulevard.

October 24, 2014 (El Cajon)—El Cajon Police announce the arrest yesterday of Paul Julian Sosa III and Homero Viscarroa Palomino.  They are charged with murder, robbery and conspiracy in the death of John Francis, 38, who died of a gunshot wound on September 18.

October 14, 2014 (San Diego)--The City of San Diego has thus far had to pay over $8 million to settle cases with 14 victims who said they were sexually assaulted or subjected to inappropriate sexual advances by former San Diego Police Officer Anthony Arevalos.  Almost two dozen women have lodged complaints ranging from groping to harassment by Officer Arevalos over a number of years.

40 ARRESTED IN SUMMERS END OPERATION IN EAST COUNTY

 

October 11, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) -- Forty people are under arrest following Operation Summer's End in Santee, Lakeside and unincorporated El Cajon, the Sheriff announced today. The probation checks were held from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11th. Operation Summer's End also included traffic stops and trolley patrols.

September 29, 2014 (Ramona) - PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information about a man who threw a 6 month-old puppy over a fence in Ramona. The brutal act was caught on video on August 28th, showing a man in a red shirt and dark pants committing the violent act. The video went viral, drawing over 7,000 viewers on Facebook, but the crime remains unsolved.

September 18, 2014 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police responded to a 911 call at 1:20 p.m. today reporting a person found unresponsive and not breathing at an apartment complex at 1499 Broadway in El Cajon. Officers responded and paramedics pronounced the victim, a 38-year old white male, dead at the scene.

September 17, 2014 (Alpine) – Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who reportedly tried to lure a 12-year-old Alpine girl into his grey car as she walked home from the Alpine Youth Center with her little brother in the 2000 block of Arnold Way today, NBC San Diego reports. The girl’s mother told the Alpine Community Network that the man asked, “Where is your mother? Come here,” then sped off when a neighbor confronted him.

A member of the household was arrested on drug charges, Sheriff’s records indicate. But a relative claims the money belonged to the suspect’s father--savings that the older man intended to use to purchase a car.

ALPINE SALON OWNER INJURED IN BRUTAL ATTACK MUST SELL BUSINESS

September 13, 2014 (Alpine)—Tina Smyth, owner of the Atria Salon in Alpine, suffered serious injuries from a brutal attack during an attempted robbery at her shop on April 8, 2014.  In a blog posted at the Alpine Community News site, Smyth says she has now been forced to put her shop up for sale because her injuries prevent her from working more than a couple of days a week.

ESCAPED INMATE MAY BE IN EAST COUNTY

 

Update: Torillo was captured Tuesday night at an El Cajon motel.  He will face charges of escaping custody in addition to drug-related charges.

September 9, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) – The Sheriff has issued a warning to residents to be on the lookout for Don Andrea Torrillo, a prisoner who escaped custody from Central Jail just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday. He was last seen wearing a dark sleeveless shirt with a star in the middle, khaki shorts and slippers. He has a tattoo on his left bicep shoulder area. He has short brown hair and eyes.

September 7, 2014 (National City) - The California Highway Patrol has activated an Amber Alert at the request of the National City Police Department.

Five-year-old Johnnie Melendez was abducted from National City on September 6th.  The boy is Hispanic, 4 feet tall and weighs 80 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes and he was last seen wearing a Batman T-shirt, striped boer shorts, and slippers with SD printed on them.
