February 24, 2023 (Berkeley) - San Diego State women’s tennis fell to Cal on Friday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Complex, 5-1. The match was initially delayed two hours due to inclement weather in the Berkeley, California area, so only singles matches were played on Friday afternoon.

February 24, 2023 (Irvine) - The No. 21 San Diego State water polo team played two good quarters, the first and fourth, against the No. 3 UCLA Bruins on Friday, at the first day of the 2023 Barbara Kalbus Invitational, being outscored 7-3, but in the second and third periods, the Bruins put the game out of reach, totaling 12 goals to the Aztecs two, in a 19-5 decision at Anteater Aquatic Center.

The Aztecs (8-2) had their six-game winning streak snapped in a 6-4 loss to No. 24/24 Oregon in the opener, before rebounding for a 6-1 victory over Utah Valley in the nightcap.

SDSU led by 15 points early in the third quarter, but the Cowgirls scored 50 second half points while shooting a blistering 79 percent from the floor in the second half to come back and steal a win.

The Aztecs (4-1), who are receiving votes in both national polls, finished in a three-way tie for first place in the six-team SDSU Season Kickoff with No. 22/rv Arizona State and rv/rv Notre Dame, all at 4-1.

SDSU had two players score four goals: Deanna Balsama and Brook Waddell. In addition to Balsama and Waddell’s scoring efforts, five additional Aztecs, Katelyn Murphy, Mia Kohn, Emma Betts, Cailin Young, Kate Christos, and Sara Toner, each scored a goal.
