August 10, 2016 (Pittsburgh) - The Padres were pillaged by the Pirates last night.  They hoped to avoid walking the plank tonight with Edwin Jackson on the mound against Ryan Vogelsong, who recently returned from the disabled list.

The Padres got started right away.  Christian Bethancourt singled in the second, scoring Jabari Blash for a 1-0 San Diego lead.  Bethancourt scored on an error and the Padres led 2-0.

The bats stayed quiet until the seventh when, after the Pirates challenged a tag play which was upheld, Alexei Ramirez singled and scored Ryan Schimpf and the Padres took a 3-0 lead.

Travis Jankowski added one more in the eighth by stealing home and the Padres earned themselves a 4-0 win in game two.  Edwin Jackson pitched seven innings and tossed seven strikeouts.

Be ready to wake up early or stream the game at work tomorrow; game three is at 9:35 a.m.

Transaction news:

  • Padres call up Nick Noonan from AAA El Paso
  • Send down Jose Rondon to AAA El Paso
