August 11, 2016 (Pittsburgh) – The Padres and Pirates made everyone get up early for the series finale.  How rude.  Christian Friedrich started for the Padres against the hot new Pirates pitcher, Jameson Taillon.

Today, the Padres still couldn’t solve David Freese.  He hit a line drive in the first that scored Josh Harrison and the Buccos took a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Freese struck again with a double that scored Starling Marte for a 2-0 Bucco lead.  Gregory Polanco scored Freese on a single and the Bucs led 3-0.  That was Polanco’s 60th RBI.  He leads the Pirates in RBIs.

Harrison singled in the fourth to score Sean Rodriguez and the Pirates went up 4-0. The exact same score that the Padres won by last night, they lost by today.  Fate can be cruel.

The Padres head to New York tomorrow to take on the Mets.  Game time is at 4:10 p.m.
