August 14, 2016 (New York) – If you think you’re tired on work days, the Padres had to play a 10:10 a.m. game after playing an extra innings battle last night.  Clayton Richard started on the mound for San Diego against Steven Matz for New York.

The Mets started the scoring again with Wilmer Flores’ solo homer in the second and the Mets took a 1-0 lead.

Neil Walker added with a solo homer of his own in the fourth to make the Mets’ lead 2-0.  Ty Kelly added on with a walk with the bases loaded in the eighth, scoring Jose Reyes and the score was 3-0.  T.J. Rivera doubled, scoring two and the Mets led 5-0.

Yangervis Solarte singled in the ninth, scoring Wil Myers, but that’s all the rallying the Padres would do.  The Mets take the series two games to one with a 5-1 win.

The Padres head to Tampa Bay tomorrow to face another AL East team, the Rays.  Game time is at 4:10 p.m.
