CYCLISTS INJURED IN CRASHES IN SAN CARLOS AND SCRIPPS RANCH

May 20, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Two cyclists have been hospitalized with serious injuries from separate accidents in San Carlos and Scripps Ranch this morning.

 

A 49 year old male was traveling at a high rate of speed on his bicycle west bound 7500 Mission Gorge Road in San Carlos when a cement truck from Superior Ready Mix made a right turn and the bicyclist hit the side of truck. The cyclist sustained a broken ankle, rib, and a head injury. He was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries, said San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali.

 

A 16 year old was riding his bicycle southbound on 10900 Scripps Ranch Blvd.The bicyclist was on the sidewalk going downhill when he lost control of his bicycle and hit a light pole and a wall. The bicyclist sustained a severe head injury and was transported to a local hospital.

 

SDPD's Traffic Division is investigating both accidents.
