NOTED GUITARIST FRED BENEDETTI PERFORMS FREE CONCERT AT MISSION TRAILS ON AUGUST 17

July 31, 2014 (San Diego)--Flamenco, jazz, classical and popular music will be performed in free a guitar concert by noted musician Fred Benedetti on Saturday, August 17 at 3 p.m. in the Mission Trails Regional Park visitor center theater.   This acclaimed entertainer plays with several local bands. He is also a full-time music professor at Grossmont College, where he heads up the guitar studies program, and serves as chair of the guitar program at San Diego State University.  He has toured in the U.S. Europe, Canada, Mexico and Taiwan. Locally, Benedetti has performed with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, Starlight Opera, American Ballet Company,  and the Old Globe Theatre, plus he has shared the stage with such musical luminaries as opera star Luciano Pavarotti and jazz artist Dave Brubeck.

He received an "Outstanding Faculty Award" in 2001 from SDSU, the "NISOD" Excellence in Teaching award from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and an "Outstanding Chair" award in 1990 from Grossmont College.

Mission Trails Regional Park encompasses over 5,800 acres and is the largest urban park in San Diego County.
