OUSTED CUSTOMER FIRES SHOTS AT LEMON GROVE BAR

January 28, 2012 (Lemon Grove) – A man who was asked to leave Dirk’s Nightclub in Lemon Grove shortly before closing time at 2 a.m. returned with a semi-automatic rifle and opened fire, ECM news partner 10 News reports. The shooter and a friend are believed to have fled in a dark pick-up truck.

ECM assistant editor Mayan Avitable heard the shots from her home on the opposite side of Highway 94.  "I was getting ready for bed -- and thought there was someone making noise outside my place," she said. "I heard one shot, then another, then about 5 in a row...It was really clear, and the sound of the shots really traveled."

According to Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Maxin, the bar patron returned shortly after being asked to leave with another man, then fired multiple rounds with a semi-automatic rifle at t he nightclub, located in the 7600 block of Broadway, while standing in the parking lot. No one was hit. 

Deputies recovered numerous shell casings. Both suspects  were described as white, in their late 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with thin builds.They drove off in a dark-colored pickup truck, ECM news partner 10 News reports.
