PADRES, BREWERS PLAY LEAP FROG, BREWERS WIN, SPLIT SERIES

May 15, 2016 (Milwaukee) - The Padres finally played their last game of this series against Milwaukee.  They started another newbie, Cesar Vargas, on the mound against Zach Davies for Milwaukee.

In the third, Chris Carter hit a solo home run and the Brewers took a 1-0 lead.

Derek Norris hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth to tie the game at one.

 

The Brewers took the lead right back 2-1 in the fifth on Jonathan Lucroy’s solo homer to center.

In the seventh, Brett Wallace tied the game at two with a solo shot.

 

The Brewers again took the lead in their half of the seventh with Carter’s double that drove home Lucroy for a 3-2 lead.  That would be all the Brewers needed to win.  The Padres finish their road trip 4-3 and split the series with Milwaukee.  They get a day off before returning home on Tuesday for a home stand, starting with the San Francisco Giants at 7:10 p.m.

 

In transaction news, the Padres optioned Leonel Campos back to AAA El Paso and recalled Tayron Guerrero.
