September 19, 2016 (San Diego) - After a disappointing sweep by the Rockies, the Padres came back home to face the Diamondbacks.  Braden Shipley would be waiting for them and he would face Clayton Richard.

The bats stayed quiet until the fourth when Wil Myers hit an opposite-field home-run, his 26th of the year, to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.  With the bases loaded, Alexi Amarista finished the job with a double to score two and the Padres went up 3-0.

In the seventh, the Dbacks would start a rally with a Kyle Jensen triple that scored Yasmany Tomas, but the Padres still led 3-1.  Phil Gosselin singled to score Jensen and the lead was cut to 3-2.  But the Padres held on to take game one hanging by their necks.

Game two is tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m.  Archie Bradley goes up against Paul Clemens.
