July 10, 2016 (Los Angeles) – The Padres won’t be able to get a nice four-game sweep before the All-Star break, but they did have the chance for a clean split.  Christian Friedrich started on the hill against Kenta Maeda—the Japanese phenom who gave the Padres such a headache in that opening series--for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers’ lineup gave the Padres a headache today too.  Corey Seager singled Howie Kendrick home after a nice double and LA went up 1-0.

Kendrick did it again in the second, hitting a blooper to left to drive in Scott van Slyke for a 2-0 Dodgers lead.

Derek Norris cut the lead in half with a solo homer in the fifth, but the Dodgers took the series three games to one by winning 3-1 with a solo homer of their own by Adrian Gonzalez in their half of the fifth.  So the Padres finish their last road trip before the All-Star break 3-4.

And now, it’s time for the All-Star break.  But don’t worry; you can still see Wil Myers and Drew Pomeranz in the All-Star Game.  Remember:  Home Run Derby tomorrow, All-Star Game on Tuesday.  The Padres will start the second half of the season at Petco Park against the NL West rival San Francisco Giants on Friday at 7:40 p.m.
