September 21, 2016 (San Diego) - The Padres won big in the rain last night.  Luckily, the weather was nicer tonight for game three, Luis Perdomo and Zack Greinke.

The snakes slithered into control tonight, though.  Paul Goldschmidt homered again in the first for a 1-0 Dbacks lead.

But Wil Myers solved that problem.  He launched a two-run homer to left center field and the Padres jumped out ahead 2-1.

Goldschmidt wouldn’t be outdone, though.  He hit a two-runner of his own to give the Dbacks the lead again, 3-2.  They’d hang on thanks to great pitching, but the Padres still took the series two games to one.

This game did feature the first major league at-bats of Carlos Asuaje and Hunter Renfroe, but they weren’t impressive; Asuaje struck out looking and Renfroe was intentionally walked.

The Giants are coming to town for a four game series.  Game one is tomorrow night at 7:10.  Jeff Samardzija will face the rookie Christian Friedrich.

Transaction news:

  • Manuel Margot, Hunter Renfroe, Austin Hedges, Carlos Asuaje, Buddy Baumann, Jose Torres recalled from AAA El Paso
  • Patrick Kivlehan, Nick Noonan designated for assignment
