September 7, 2016 (San Diego) - After being lit up by the Red Sox last night, the Padres still had the opportunity to take the series from them tonight with Jarred Cosart on the mound against David Price.

The Padres got on the board first in the first with Yangervis Solarte's double that scored Wil Myers and San Diego led 1-0.

But that all went away as Travis Shaw, who's fighting for his third base spot back, hit a two-run homer to make the score 2-1 Red Sox.

But the Padres tied it up again with Myers’ safe fly in the third that scored Cosart.

But the Sox took it right back in the fourth.  Shaw singled to score Jackie Bradley Jr. to make the score 3-2.  Dustin Pedroia doubled to score Chris Young and Shaw and the Red Sox jumped up to 5-2.

Hanley Ramirez added on in the eighth with a solo homer and the Sox took a 6-2 lead.

Brock Holt added one more in the ninth with another solo homer and the Red Sox took the series 2-1 with a 7-2 win.

The Padres go back to NL West play on Thursday, aka Star Wars Night at Petco Park, when the Colorado Rockies come to town.  The first pitch is at 7:10 p.m.
