September 2, 2016 (Los Angeles) - After being swept by one of the worst teams in the league that they probably should have won against, the Padres take their talents to Los Angeles to take on the NL West rival Dodgers, who hold first place in the NL West.  Clayton Richard started on the mound against Julio Urias.

Things stayed quiet until the fourth when Joc Pederson singled, scoring Enrique Hernandez and the Dodgers were on the board first, leading 1-0.

But suddenly, out of nowhere in the sixth, Derek Norris doubled, scoring two and the Padres jumped out in front of LA 2-1.

But the lead didn't last as Pederson launched a solo homer in the Dodgers’ half of the sixth to tie the game at two.  But Yangervis Solarte countered with a solo shot of his own to give the Padres a 3-2 lead.  After a few pitching changes, Brett Wallace singled against J.P. Howell, scoring Alex Dickerson and the Padres went up 4-2.  That's all they needed as they beat the NL West leaders 4-2 in game one.

Game two is tomorrow an hour earlier at 6:10 p.m.
