PARTY CHAIRS & ELECTED OFFICIALS TOP SLATE AT CHAMBER'S “POLITICS IN PARADISE” AUGUST 10

August 2, 2012 (Rancho San Diego) -- The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce’s  lively annual political event, Politics in Paradise, will be held on Friday, August 10 at the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College.

This year, the two-part event includes a panel of federal, state and local officials discussing their legislative agendas and how they related to business.  Panelists include Congressman Bob Filner, State Senator Joel Anderson, Assemblyman Brian Jones, and Supervisor Dianne Jacob.

In addition, chairs of the San Diego County Republican and Democratic parties, Tony Krvarik and Jess Durfee, will discuss three key ballot initiatives.

These include Governor Brown’s proposed ¼-cent sales tax increase to fund education, a proposal to restrict the use of payroll deductions for political fundraising, and a ballot initiative to re-write the “Three Strikes Law.”

Cost is $35 for Chamber members and $50 for guests.  Price includes an array of international foods and a hosted bar during a reception from 6-7:15 p.m., with the program to follow.
