PHOTOS OF MOTEL SHOOTING SUSPECT & VEHICLE RELEASED BY LA MESA POLICE

ATTEMPTED MURDER BELIEVED TO BE GANG-RELATED

August 25, 2009 (La Mesa) -- Surveillance photos and video of a shooting suspect and his vehicle have been released today by the La Mesa Police. The suspect is wanted for alleged attempted murder at the Heritage Inn, 7851 Fletcher Parkway that occurred on August 23, 2009.

 

A photo shows the suspect, who wore a horizontal striped shirt. Witnesses reported seeing the shooting suspect, a black male, possibly in his 20s, with dreadlocks or braided hair, run into a room at the motel after the shooting, which police believe is gang-related. The vehicle is believed to be a white SUV with a sunroof and roof racks.

 

The shooting occurred at about 12:43 a.m on August 23rd. When police arrived they found a twenty-two year old Hispanic male, who had been shot three times, in his vehicle in the parking lot. The man was taken to Sharp Hospital, where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.

The La Mesa Police Department’s Special Response Team was called to the scene along with the San Diego Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team to attempt to safely contact the suspect. The suspect ultimately was not found in the motel room and his whereabouts are unknown at this time. This investigation is continuing.
