POLICE SEEK HIT & RUN DRIVER WHO STRUCK CHILD IN LA MESA; TODDLER SUFFERED HEAD INJURY

August 25, 2011 (La Mesa)—La Mesa Police seek public help to locate a hit-and-run driver of a white minivan or sport utility vehicle, possibly a Volkwagen, with a luggage rack on top. The vehicle struck a toddler in the eastbound lanes of Fletcher Parkway near the Trolley Court intersection tonight at 7:49 p.m.

 

The boy, 27 months, was transported to Children’s Hospital with head injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, according to police. The driver fled the scene after striking the child. No information was provided on who was responsible for the child or how the tot wound up in traffic on the busy roadway.
