PUBLIC HEARING OCT. 20 ON ESTABLISHING GROSSMONT SECONDARY CHARTER SCHOOL IN GUHSD

October 13, 2016 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont Union High School District board of trustees will hold a public hearing regarding a petition to establish Grossmont Secondary Charter School Under Oversight Authority of Governing Board of Grossmont Union High School District under Education Code 47605(b).

The hearing will be held during the governing board’s regular meeting on Thursday, October 20. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the East County Regional Education Center, 924 East Main Street in El Cajon.

Education Code 47605(b) sets forth the process for consideration of a petition for charter school and provides that within 30 days of the governing board’s receipt of a charter petition, the board must hold a public hearing on the provisions of the charter proposal, at which time the governing board of the district shall consider the level of support for the petition by the teachers employed by the district, other employees of the district, and parents.

The Board anticipates taking final action on the petition at its meeting of November 15, 2016 at the same location and start time as listed above.

A copy of the petition is available for review at https://goo.gl/7KY8Vo and a hard copy is available for review at the GUHSD District Office, 1100 Murray Drive, El Cajon, CA 92020 during normal business hours. A hard copy will also be available for review at the Board Meetings where action will be taken (October 20, 2016 and November 15, 2016).
