FROM RAVING POLKA TO GERMAN BRATS: LA MESA OKTOBERFEST TAKES TO THE STREETS OCT. 5-7

October 5, 2012 (La Mesa) – Oktoberfest has been a tradition in La Mesa for 35 years, growing from a small street fair to a three-day fest that now draws over 186,000 attendees and 400 vendors. La Mesa Chamber has partnered with La Mesa Village Merchants Association, founders of the event. 

This year’s festivities include not only such German favorites as bratwurst, beer, and a Raving Polka band, but also more contemporary favorites such as CarTune Dogs playing classic rock and Jumpin’ Jack Flash mobile music all weekend long.

 

Below is the schedule of events:

 

Friday, October 5th

Open 11:00am-11:30pm

Car Tune Dogs (Classic Rock) - 6-10pm

Saturday, Oct 6th

Open 11:00am-11:30pm

Raving Polka - German Music 1-5

CarTune Dogs (Classic Rock) - 6-10pm

Sunday, Oct 7th

 

Open 12:00pm-5:00pm

El Cajon German Band (German Music) -

1- 4pm

Jumpin Jack Flash (Jack Leary) Mobile Music Entertainment and Productions official Beermeister all weekend

Location: Downtown La Mesa on La Mesa Blvd. between Acacia and 4thAvenue

 

Beer Garden Location: In the Allison St. parking lot between Pine and Palm on Allison

There is also a food court featuring food ranging from pizza to funnel cakes, as well as traditional German fare.

PLEASE NOTE: The Spring Street Trolley Station (the station closest to the 94 freeway) will be under construction during Oktoberfest.  The station WILL REMAIN OPEN during construction, however construction detours are planned for passengers to follow when accessing the trolley.  Please use extra caution.
