May 8, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State senior left-hander Marcus Reyes has been named the Mountain West Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, May 7, 2017.

Reyes (Vista, Calif. / Rancho Buena Vista HS) made two relief appearances on the week, including one at UCLA on Tuesday (May 2) and another at San José State on Sunday (May 7).

He entered the contest against UCLA with runners at second and third and two outs and proceeded to strike out the next batter to end the threat. He tossed 3.1 innings in that contest and retired ten consecutive batters against the Bruins, including three via the strikeout.

On Sunday, Reyes came into a tied game against the Spartans in the eighth inning with two on and two out. After allowing an infield single, retired the next batter to end the inning and maintain the tie score. He went on to retire the next six batters to pick up the win.

In a total of 5.2 innings last week, Reyes allowed one hit (infield single) to the 18 batters he faced (.056 batting average against), struck out five and did not give up a walk.

San Diego State will resume action this weekend with a three-game conference series at Air Force. That set gets underway on Friday, May 12 with a game slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Falcon Field in Colorado Springs, Colo.
