January 1, 2010 (San Diego) -- San Diego County Credit Union®, with three local East County branch offices in El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee, has been recognized for ethical business conduct with a 2009 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the San Diego Better Business Bureau (BBB). SDCCU received its Torch Award in the over-500-employee category.

SDCCU was one of 20 companies honored by the BBB for ethical business practices either as a 2009 Torch Award winner or finalists; however, SDCCU was the only financial institution that was recognized.

“Consumers want to do business with ethical companies, so we are very proud of our Torch Award because it represents our commitment to treating customers the right way,” said Irene Oberbauer, San Diego County Credit Union President & CEO. “We agree with the BBB that adhering to ethical standards is the only way to ensure that our marketplace remains fair and honorable. We are very proud of this award.”

Each year, thousands of U.S. businesses are entered in local Torch Award competitions conducted by BBBs in every region of the country. SDCCU’s winning entry will be forwarded to the Council of Better Business Bureau, the parent organization for the BBB network, for an international competition.

SDCCU’s local branches are located at 312 W. Main St. in El Cajon, 8555 Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa and 286 Town Center Parkway in Santee For more information, visit www.sdccu.com.
