SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR RURAL STUDENTS IN EAST COUNTY

July 24, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Mountain Empire School District, which serves rural areas of East County is asking for donations of backpacks and other school supplies for students. Communities in the district, which serves many poor families, include Boulevard, Campo, Clover Flat, Dehesa, Guatay, Jacumba, Pine Valley, Potrero, and Tecate.
 

Donations may be brought to locations in Alpine or Campo prior to Back to School Night on August 31.
 

Mountain View Community Center, 976 Sheridan Road, Campo
 

Mountain Health & Community Services, Inc., 1620 Alpine Blvd., Suite 119, Alpine
 

“I will be happy to pick up all donations, or they can be dropped off in Alpine,” said Carol Lewis, community liaison with Mountain Health & Community Services, Inc.
 

Supplies needed include:

  • 24 ct. crayons
  • colored pencils
  • glue bottles
  • washable markers
  • glue sticks
  • college ruled paper
  • 3-ring binders
  • paper notebooks
  • highlighter markers
  • rulers
  • scissors
  • watercolor paints
  • computer paper
  • lined index cards
  • dictionaries
  • LOTS OF BACKPACKS (for all ages)
