SD RIVER FLOOD WARNING ISSUED; FLOODING ON I-15 AND I-5 , PLUS OTHER AREA ROADWAYS

December 21, 2010 (San Diego) 9:15 a.m.--The flood watch issued yesterday has been upgraded to a flood warning for the San Diego River. In addition, many roadways are flooded and there are accidents on numerous streets and highways. Below are details on several of the most recent and severe:

Southbound I-15 at Eastbound I-8: all lanes flooded
Southbound I-5 at 1st Ave. flooded near downtown San Diego

 

More road problem reports this a.m.:

9:15 a.m. Old Julian Highway at State Route 78: puddle of mud covering most lanes
9:14 a.m. Northbound 125 at Spring : accident; vehicle facing wrong way
9:00 a.m. Flooding on eastbound 94 near I-15
6:28 a.m. Carmel Mt. Road onramp to northbound I-15 closed due to flooding

WIND WARNING issued for I-8 east of Alpine.

 

In the South Bay area, lifeguards are in process of rescuing three people from a vehicle stuck in a flooded roadway at Dairy Mart Road and Camino De La Plaza. The car has been stuck there for 24 hours and all three occupants may be suffering from hypothermia, Patch.com reports this a.m..
