SDSU POLICE WARN OF 2 STRONG-ARM ROBBERIES

November 19, 2016 (San Diego) -- San Diego State University campus police have issued a warning about two strong-arm robberies. The robberies occurred yesterday at 10:30 and 11 p.m., both involving theft or attempted theft of students’ cell phones.

Below are details:

In incident #1, which occurred at 5150 East Campus Drive, a male grabbed an SDSU student’s cell phone as the student stood in front of an east side residence hall.  The suspect then fled with a second male toward the Jack-In-The-Box at 5100 College Ave.  The victim was uninjured.  

In incident #2, which occurred at 5100 College Avenue, a male attempted to grab an SDSU student’s phone from their hand.  The phone fell to the ground and the suspect fled with a second male toward the east side parking areas.  The phone was recovered.  The victim was uninjured.   Police are following-up on several leads. 

Witnesses provided police with the following descriptions:   

Suspect #1:  African-American male, early twenties, approximately 5’-08’ or 5’-09”, wearing dark clothing.

Suspect #2:  African-American male, sixteen to twenty years old, tall and slender, wearing dark jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.

 Be aware of your surroundings, while in transit from one place to another, keep your phone out of sight, immediately report suspicious activity by dialing 9-1-1.
