February 10, 2021 (San Diego) - Head coach Shelia Burrell has released the San Diego State track and field schedule for the 2021 outdoor season. The Aztecs will compete in eight meets (three at home) before beginning their postseason competitions. San Diego State joins other Mountain West programs with foregoing the indoor season.

March 7, 2020 (La Jolla) - The Aztec track and field team kicked of the 2020 outdoor season at UCSD’s San Diego Collegiate Challenge on Saturday. 19 athletes competed with 12 making their 2020 debut. Vanessa Spizewski and Jordyn Bryant highlighted the day for SDSU by winning the long jump and discus throw.

February 14, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field wrapped up the Don Kirby Elite Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center Friday afternoon.

Sonja Andenmatten paced the Aztecs in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:11.89, the sixth best time in SDSU’s indoor history. Nyjari McNeil placed ninth with a time of 2:12.12.

February 8, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field team’s 4x400m relay team beat the SDSU school record by nearly six seconds to etch their names in the record books.

Jalyn Harris, Danae Dyer, Sakura Roberson and Nyjari McNeil finished in 3:33.81, nearly a full six seconds better than the previous record of 3:39.52 set at last year’s Mountain West Indoor Championships. SDSU’s time gives them the eighth fastest in the nation.

February 7, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field team wrapped up day one of the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational Friday evening at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Vanessa Spizewski had the top finish among Aztecs, earning a second-place finish in the long jump with a new PR jump of 18-07.25 (5.67m). Dejanae Thompson came in ninth (17-04.00).

June 6, 2019 (Austin) - Aztec pole vaulter Bonnie Draxler earned the silver medal at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas Thursday evening. The senior from Wrightstown, Wisc. tied her own school record by clearing 14-09.50 (4.51m). This was the second time this year Draxler has finished as the NCAA runner-up, both times to an Arkansas vaulter.

May 24, 2019 (Sacramento) - Bonnie Draxler qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships after finishing eighth in the pole vault Friday evening at the NCAA West Prelims in Sacramento, Calif.

Draxler cleared 14-02.00, which tied for the best height. This will be her fourth career appearance at the NCAA Championships (2nd outdoor). She was the national runner-up three months ago at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Nyjari McNeil (800m) and Maya Brosch (400m hurdles) also competed Thursday evening, but did not qualify for Friday’s quarterfinals.

April 20, 2019 (Long Beach) - The Aztec track and field team competed in the Beach Invitational Saturday. Nyjari McNeil highlighted the day for the Aztecs by taking first in the 800 meter run.

McNeil bested 91 competitors in the 800. Her time of 2:06.58 beat her previous best of 2:07.20 to reset her SDSU freshman record. She also moved up from No. 5 to No. 4 all-time at SDSU.

April 5, 2019 (Las Vegas) - The Aztec track and field team tied for second in the Mountain West Challenge Friday afternoon at UNLV. SDSU took first in eight events and saw Jordyn Bryant set a SDSU freshman record in the shot put. Bryant had a throw of 49’ 9.25” (15.17m) to top Jasmine Burrell’s record of 49’ 6.25” set in 2012.

Aztecs that took first place include Callista Fletcher (100m; 11:40w), Nyjari McNeil (800m; 54.43), Danae Dyer (100m hurdles; 13.80), Paige Comiso (5000m; 18:42.78) and Sarah Absten (heptathlon group B; 4,719 points).
