October 27, 2016 (San Diego) - After dropping the first set, San Diego State roared back to defeat Air Force, 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-23), Thursday evening on Aztec Court. With the victory, SDSU improved to 14-10 overall and 6-4 in the Mountain West, Air Force, meanwhile, saw its record drop to 9-15 (0-11 MW).

Aztec sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Psoma led all players with 14 kills over the three sets and also chipped in with four digs, two service aces and a block while turning in a team-best .458 hitting percentage.

Deja Harris contributed nine kills, four blocks and a pair of digs with freshman Ashlyn Dunbar ending the night with seven kills, two digs and a block.

Setter Indigo Thompson set her SDSU best with four kills and tied her career high in blocking with three. She also finished with her fourth double-double of the year (34 assists, 10 digs).

The opening set saw San Diego State hold a small lead over the first portion before Air Force tied it up at 10-10. The Falcons then held the lead for a few points until the score settled in at 15-all. From there the visitors scored three straight points and were never caught as they went on to the five-point set win. Three Aztecs ended the contest with two kills apiece, but as a team SDSU hit just -.083 for the set.

Set number two was tied on seven occasions early before, with the contest deadlocked at 8-8, San Diego State recorded four consecutive points to take the led for good. The Falcons could only get within two the rest of the way as the Aztecs went on to the eight-point set win. Deja Harris had five kills to lead SDSU to the victory.

After the break, San Diego State came out and took control from the outset as it built a 14-3 lead and coasted to the set win. Alexandra Psoma led all players with six kills while teammate Emma Fuzie chipped in with three. The Aztecs hit .391 in the contest while holding the Falcons to a -.071 attack percentage.

The fourth set was the closest of the match as the teams vied to get the upper hand in a contest that saw eight tied scores and four lead changes. With the set tied at 14-14, the Aztecs scored two points to establish a lead they would not relinquish.

SDSU built its advantage to as many as five points at 21-16, but the Falcons would not go away, eventually drawing to within a point at 23-22. After the teams scored a point apiece, Psoma recorded the match-winning kill to give SDSU the 25-23 set win and a 3-1 match victory. She again led all players, this time with five kills in the contest along with three digs.

San Diego State will now prepare for the visit of conference foe Boise State for a match on Saturday, Oct. 29, set to get underway at 6:00 p.m. (PT) on Aztec Court.
