SPRING INTO HEALTHY LIVING HEALTH AND WELLNESS EVENT MARCH 19

March 6, 2014 (La Mesa) - - The public is invited to join in the 2014 “Spring Into Health Living” on Wednesday, /March 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  This is a health and wellness event featuring free health screenings, lectures and information for older adults provided by community service providers in the East County.

The event will be held at the Davis YMCA, 8881 Dallas Street, La Mesa. Your free admission includes a healthy continental breakfast, and free parking.  Reservations are requested;  call the AARP Reservation line at (877) 926-8300 to reserve your spot. 

Health screenings at the event will include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), check your mood, balance.  Try Tai Chi and take a tour of the YMCA.  A pharmacist will be on hand to do medication review.  Attend a free lecture on decluttering, or nutrition, or find out more about HICAP and the new insurance choices .

This event is also your opportunity to connect with many community providers who are sponsoring this event:  AARP; East County Family YMCA; East County Action Network for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities (ECAN); County of San Diego, HHSA Aging and Independence Services; Grossmont Gardens – Elmcroft Senior Living; Parkinson’s Association of San Diego; Sharp Grossmont Hospital Senior Resource Center; City of La Mesa; La Mesa Collaborative; Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program; Spring Valley Youth & Family Coalition; and Consumer Advocates for RCFE Reform (CARR). 

The more exhibitors’ tables you visit, and the more free lectures you attend, you’ll increase your chances of winning in opportunity drawings that will be held throughout the morning.  Remember to wear soft-soled shoes because no hard-heeled shoes are allowed inside the gym.

Getting to the Davis YMCA is easy. For detailed directions, please call the Davis YMCA at (619) 464-1323. Once you get there, you’ll see signs for drop-off and parking. Come join the fun.  Everybody is welcome so bring family members of all ages.
