June 12, 2012 (Spring Valley) – Search and rescue teams, K-9 search dogs and an ASTREA helicopter have been scouring Spring Valley in an effort to locate Rebecca Faye Alford, who was reported missing at 5:17 a.m. by an acquaintance.

Last seen at her home in the Lamplighter Village Park, 10767 Jamacha Blvd., at 10:30 p.m. last night, Alford had at least two aliases and a history of arrests.  Most recently, she was arrested June 9 and booked by the San Diego County Sheriff on sale and possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

UT San Diego reports that she is also set to be sentenced Monday in federal court for transporting undocumented immigrants, allegedly driving them in a vehicle to a local motel after they crossed the border illegally. She pled guilty, but details have been sealed.

“There were suspicious circumstances at her residence,” Lt. Larry Nesbtt with the San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Unit told ECM.  “We are still hopeful that she will be find alive.”

Approximately 15 Sheriff deputies and Border Patrol officers have been deployed, conducted a door-to-door canvass of the area as well as a search of nearby fields and canyons.  Dogs trained to find live persons as well as cadaver dogs are on the scene.

Authorities are also searching for Nesbitt’s vehicle, which is missing.  The vehicle is a black 1999 Ford F150 with license 67216A1.

Alford, 41, has red hair and hazel eyes.  She is 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 140 pounds, according to her recent arrest record.  According to the Sheriff, she is also known as Fatima Garcia.  She was booked into the Las Colinas Detention Facility following her arrest June 9.

A neighbor stopped by to tell authorities that on the past three mornings very early, a “strange man” had been seen loitering near the pool area.

According to www.mugshots.com, a Rebecca Faye Alford of the same age and similar appearance was previously arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia in 2001 and sentenced on March 30, 2002 for a probation violation. The Georgia records listed an alias of Racheal Alonso.  She was discharged on April 30, 2002, according to the records.

Her arrest record dates back to 1994, mostly on drug charges. She remains on probation from a 2009 conviction, at which time her doctor stated in a letter that she had a terminal diagnosis of cervical cancer.

Lt. Nesbitt would not disclose the type of suspicious circumstances found at the scene, nor whether Alford lived with anyone or who last saw her alive.

However he offered assurance to community members when asked if he believes there is any threat to public safety.  “We don’t think there is any reason for anybody else to be concerned,” he told ECM.
