STATEWIDE TELEPHONE TOWN HALL EDUCATES TAXPAYERS ON YOUR RIGHTS MAY 13

May 10, 2014 (Sacramento) -- California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Member and Chair of the Customer Service and Administrative Efficiency Committee Betty T. Yee will host a telephone town hall on May 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. to educate entrepreneurs on their rights and responsibilities as California tax and feepayers. BOE Chairman Jerome E. Horton, Vice Chair Michelle Steel, Board Member George Runner, and State Controller John Chiang are also sponsors of this event who encourage California taxpayers to participate and learn more about their rights.

Participants will learn how to minimize the burden of tax compliance, what they need to know if they are unable to file and pay their taxes or fees on time, what their rights are during an audit, and more. Callers are encouraged to share their experiences and suggestions.

The five-member California State Board of Equalization (BOE) is a publicly elected tax board.  The BOE collects $56 billion annually in taxes and fees supporting state and local government services.
