February 1, 2014 (La Mesa)—After receiving a call from a male victim stating he was being held against his will in a black Ford Expedition vehicle traveling west on University Avenue near Park Avenue, La Mesa Police responded. The victim gave location updates to a police dispatcher, presenting he was talking to a friend, and reported that the suspect had a gun.

LMPD requested help from San Diego Police.  SDPD’s ABLE helicopter located the vehicle near Chollas Parkway and 54th Street.

When La Mesa Police arrived, the vehicle failed to yield and a sort pursuit ensued.  According to the victim, the passenger told him not to stop as he had the gun pointed at him.

The vehicle later yielded in a gas station parking lot near Geniva Avenue and Euclid Avenue and the driver and passenger were detained without incident.

The 41 year old victim was not injured during the ordeal. An air soft hand gun was located in the passenger area of the vehicle and the passenger was arrested.

Leonard Houser, 29, of San Carlos was booked at San Diego County Jail for a violation of 207(a) PC- Kidnapping.
