SYCUAN TRIBE PROPOSES 11-STORY, 300-ROOM HOTEL AS FIRST PHASE OF LARGER EXPANSION

November 3, 2016 (El Cajon) -- The Sycuan band of the Kumeyaay nation has plans to build a high-rise hotel and expand its casino.

The plans call for an 11-story, 300-room, hotel plus an additional 21,000 square feet of gaming space with 500 new devices, bringing the total to 2,500. The project would also include a 2,030-car parking garage, an upscale restaurant, a spa, fitness center, and larger outdoor area with two swimming pools.

June 21, 2016 (La Mesa) – Freeway memorial signs commemorating murder victim and Sycuan tribal member Xusha Brown Jr. were unveiled today at the La Mesa Police Department.  Brown was shot and killed while in a vehicle on Interstate 8 in La Mesa in the early morning on May 5, 2013.  The driver of the Nissan Maxima, Malcolm Hune, was also injured.

April 3, 2016 (Sycuan Reservation) –The Sycuan Tribe completed a major reduction in overall water usage through an aggressive conservation program that includes retrofitting irrigation equipment, removing and replacing water-dependent landscaping and increasing awareness around the importance of water conservation. 

SYCUAN DONATES $75,000 IN GIFT GIVING CEREMONY TO BENEFIT 30 LOCAL CHARITIES

December 21, 2015 (El Cajon, CA) – Thirty local charities received over $75,000 in donations from Sycuan at a Gift Giving Ceremony on December 10th, an event that started back in 2006. Each member of Sycuan’s leadership team, comprised of elected tribal council members, the casino executive management team and the casino directors, had the opportunity to each select a charity of their choice to support. All 30 charities were present at the event that took place in Paipa’s Buffet, where they had the opportunity to speak to the group about their cause and receive their monetary donation.

 

SYCUAN HOSTS POW-WOW SEPT. 11-13

 

September 1, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) - The Sycuan band of the Kumeyaay nation will host its 26th annual pow-wow September 11-13 at the tribe’s pow-wow grounds, next to the Casino at 5459 Sycuan Road on the Sycuan reservation in El Cajon.

SYCUAN PITCHES IN WITH DONATION TO HELP SWEETWATER VALLEY TEAM IN LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES

August 24, 2015 (Bonita) – The Sweetwater Little League team is vying for a championship in the Little League World Series.  The team won its first game in a blow-out 14-2 victory, but lost Sunday’s game, so now must score four more victories to clinch the world championship.

May 17, 2015 (El Cajon)—The second annual America on Main Street event ( held this year on May 16th ) was teeming with happy people - from parents with kids in tow, to some of us senior adults mingling with the crowds, all having a good time.

NEW OUTDOOR EXERCISE EQUIPMENT AT WELLS PARK

 

May 24, 2014 (El Cajon)--The City of El Cajon Recreation was awarded a grant through the Indian Gaming Local Benefit Committee for fiscal year 2013 - 2014 to replace the outdoor adult exercise equipment located at Wells Park.  The ribbon cutting for the grand re-opening of the fitness area will be on Friday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m.
