October 1, 2016 (Santee) - The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with other Chambers in East County, put on Politics in Paradise Part 2 at BNS Brewery in Santee 2 days ago. This was a continuation of Politics in Paradise in July. Again this year, the public got to mix and mingle with the local candidates. Near the end of the night, candidates gave a 15-30 second speech about why they were running.

September 16, 2016 (Santee) — The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce, along with the East County Development Council, Santee, Lakeside and Alpine Mountain Empire Chambers invite you to Politics in Paradise part 2. 

Candidates for races across East County have been invited—including city council and mayoral contests as well as races ranging from school boards to the Grossmont Healthcare district. Here’s your chance to meet candidates up close and personal, hear their ideas, ask questions and network with movers and shakers from across our region.

July 4, 2016 (Rancho San Diego) - The East County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual ‘Politics in Paradise’ at the Water Conservation Garden on July 1st. This year, instead of a panel of speakers, the public got to mix and mingle with the local candidates. Then, throughout the night, candidates came up in three different groups to introduce themselves and explain why they’re running.

June 15, 2016 (San Diego's East County) – Local chamber of commerce groups in San Diego’s East County will jointly present “Politics in Paradise” from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 30, at the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College, 12122 Cuyamaca College Dr. West, El Cajon. Chambers supporting the event include the San Diego East County Chamber, Lakeside Chamber, Santee Chamber and Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber. Also supporting the event is the San Diego East County Economic Development Council (ECEDC).

August 8, 2014 (El Cajon)--Six East County politicians participated in a lively question and answer session under the stars at Cuyamaca College's Water Conservation Garden during a mild summer evening on August 7.

The location for the annual event hosted by the joint Chambers ofCommerce in East County was apropos because the state’s water issue was a hot topic discussed by local leaders. The site exemplified ways that constituents could help with the current drought. Other issues debated at the event were welfare, immigration, the local craft beer industry, using public pension funds to invest in affordable housing, providing incentives to private developers, Proposition 13, high-speed rail, and even Shamu.

August 22, 2010 (El Cajon ) – Two Congressmen and four local lawmakers fielded questions from the audience Friday night, trading quips and barbs on topics ranging from healthcare to gay marriage. The occasion was the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Politics in Paradise” event in the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College, where the weather was sultry and the politics even hotter.

August 20, 2009 (El Cajon) – The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce invites members and the public to “Politics in Paradise”, an open forum with an opportunity to interact with your elected officials while they are in town during the Congressional and state legislative recesses. The event will be held Friday, August 21st at the Cuyamaca College Water Conservation Garden in El Cajon.
