LA MESA POLICE SEEK DARK SEDAN AFTER SHOTS FIRED AT MOTORCYCLIST ON UNIVERSITY

September 15, 2019 (La Mesa) – Gunshots were fired at a motorcyclist in the intersection of University Avenue and Marian Street around 3 a.m., prompting La Mesa Police to shut down several streets while they searched for a dark-colored sedan last seen heading east on University.

The shots missing the motorcyclist, but he sustained leg injuries after the gunfire caused him to crash into a fence. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

82-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING WIFE

 

June 21, 2013 (La Mesa)—La Mesa Police responded to a 911 call last night at 11:17 p.m. from a woman who had been shot in the hand and abdomen by her husband, Clyyde Hayen. On arrival at the residence in the 7300 block of Princeton Avenue, Police found that the suspect was still inside the residence and the victim was unable to leave.

After a few minutes, the 73-year old victim was able to leave the residence.  The victim reported that she had just served her husband with divorce papers prior to the shooting.

LA MESA FREEWAY SHOOTING VICTIM DIES: $50,000 REWARD OFFERED BY SYCUAN

May 6, 2013 (La Mesa) -- Xusha Brown Jr., 22, of El Cajon has died of a gunshot wound to his head.  Brown was one of two victims in a drive-by shooting that occured on I-8 east near State Route 125 shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

"The senseless murder of young Xusha Brown Jr. offends the conscience," Sycuan Chairman Daniel Tucker said. A $50,000 reward has been offered, including $40,000 from the tribe, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer

FREEWAY SHOOTING IN LA MESA: WITNESSES SOUGHT

May 5, 2013 (La Mesa) -- Two victims are in serious condition after being shot by a passing car on I-8 eastbound near State Route 125 early this morning.  I-8 east was closed for several hours, reopening around 10 a.m.  Lt. Matt Nicholass at La Mesa Police informed ECM that both victims are men in their 20s.

The victims were in a silver Nissan Maxima. There is no description of the suspect vehicle, except that it was a car.  There is no information yet on the weapon used, or whether the shooting was random or if victims may have known the shooter.

MAN SHOT IN HEAD IN LA MESA; POLICE SEEK TWO SUSPECTS SEEN RUNNING FROM SCENE

On October 5, 2012 (La Mesa)—At 5:22 p.m. yesterday, La Mesa Police Department received reports of “shots heard” and a victim on the ground in the area of 5800 Amarillo Avenue. Upon arrival, La Mesa Police Officers found an unknown white male lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.  He was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

MAN KILLED BY LA MESA POLICE AFTER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DISPUTE

August 20, 2011 (La Mesa) – Police officers fired multiple shots, killing a shotgun-wielding man late last night near La Mesa's downtown village  Pine Court in La Mesa remains closed until at least mid- morning today between University Avenue and Allison while authorities conduct an investigation.

2 ARRESTS MADE IN SHOOTING OF TEEN IN LA MESA

July 1, 2011 (La Mesa) – Two alleged gang members have been arrested and charged with attempted murder of a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head while riding his skateboard in La Mesa. The youth, who was from Arizona, was robbed and shot around 1:49 a.m. on June 27 outside a motel where he was staying with his family.

POLICE SEEK SUSPECT IN LA MESA MOTEL SHOOTING

 

August 23, 2009 (La Mesa)—Shortly after midnight, at around 12:43 a.m., a man was shot at the Heritage Inn, 7851 Fletcher Parkway, La Mesa. When police arrived they found a twenty-two year old Hispanic male, who had been shot three times, in his vehicle in the parking lot. The man was taken to Sharp Hospital, where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.
