SCRIPT-WRITING COMPETITION SEEKS LOCAL HISTORICAL CHARACTERS FOR TWAINFEST PRESENTATIONS

Deadly is May 31 to submit scripts for Twainfest August 18 in Old Town

May 6, 2018 (San Diego) – Victor Crosthwaite Contreras, an actor, educator and descendant of two Spanish soldiers who served at the San Diego Presidio, sat down with East County Magazine on KNSJ Radio for an interview about a script-writing competition that seeks to depict historical characters from the 1800s in our region.

April 10, 2017 (San Diego) – East County Magazine interviewed actor Victor Crosswaite Contreras,  a member of Descendants of Early San Diego.  There’s still time to enter a script-writing competition by May 31st for this year’s TwainFest in Old Town.  Scripts should bring to life an early resident of the San Diego region in the 1800s.  In our interview,  Contreras shares details –and delivers a dramatic reading of one of last year’s winning scripts, depicting famed bandito Joaquin Murrieta.

January 3, 2016 (San Diego)--The Descendants of Early San Diego (formerly known as the Old Town San Diego Descendants Group seek submissions of short  monologues for presentation at TwainFest 2016 to be held at Old Town San Diego State Park in August of 2016. Each monologue should be in first person, accurately reflecting real people who lived in our region in the 1800s. Two $100 prizes will be awarded and authors can also audition for opportunities to perform their works for additional compensation. See below for details.

Fans encouraged to travel early to see TCU take on Louisiana Tech

December 19, 2011(San Diego) -- The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is expanding Trolley service for the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on December 21. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. and fans can park for free at MTS park-and-rides to avoid traffic and parking hassles.
