July 2, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) - The San Diego Astronomy Association hosts events throughout the year.  You can visit their calendar or scroll down for events that the SDAA will be participating in or sponsoring in the next month–including several at East County locations. Inclement weather may postpone or cancel outdoor events, so check with the SDAA or the event coordinator to be sure the event is still scheduled.

WOODSTOCK FOR ASTRONOMY GEEKS: JULIAN'S STARFEST AUGUST 21-23

August 21, 2014 (Julian)--The Julian StarFest runs from August 21-August 24 among the grape vines and apple orchards at Menghini Winery in Julian.Anyone can enjoy the Julian StarFest by participating in the free public star party on Saturday, August 23rd.

Arrive in Julian between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and you can enter the StarFest grounds (1150 Julian Orchards Ln, Julian, CA 92036) for free. Take a star tour of the heavens using the many telescopes set up in the viewing area. Experts will be on hand to answer questions about what your looking at and about the telescopes.

ORION RISING, ANDROMEDA GALAZY ON HIGH: STAR PARTY AT MISSION TRAILS JANUARY 11

 

January 2, 2014 (San Diego) – You’re invited to a star party with Mission Trails Regional Park guide and resident astronomer George Varga on Saturday, January 11 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Moon is past First Quarter and waxing. Jupiter will be rising in the Eastern sky. Up for viewing are The Pleiades (Seven Sisters), the Double Cluster in Perseus, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) high overhead as well as the great Orion Nebula rising in the East.
