DESCANSO DAYS’ PARADE & FAIR JULY 13

June 15, 2013 (Descanso) -- The Descanso Days’ Fair and Parade “Back to the Old West”, presented by the Descanso Town Hall Association, takes place July 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The parade, which begins at 10 a.m. at the Hotshots parking lot at 24321 Viejas Grade Road, Descanso, will follow Viejas Grade to the Descanso School.

The Fair will be held at the Town Hall, 24536 Viejas Grade Road and features live music from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., including a steel kettle drum band, Just Friends Bluegrass, Breaking Bad and Barbwire Country Western.  Native American dancer, Eric Runningpath will perform and the Luke Barbour Scholarship Awards will be presented.

PIZZA EVENT TO KICK OFF JULIAN'S JULY 4TH PARADE FUNDRAISING ON MARCH 25

March 17, 2013 (Julian) – All of Julian is invited to join the Fourth of July Parade Committee for an evening of fun, festivity and fundraising at Wynola Pizza on March 25.  The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Barn.

You can enjoy a pizza dinner plus locally produced wine and cider while supporting the parade. The committee will also offer raffle tickets for a ride on a vintage aircraft, an opportunity to purchase t-shirts worn on parade day 20 years ago, and share in the 50/50 drawing.

COUNCILMEMBERS GASTIL & VASQUEZ REPRESENT LEMON GROVE AT THE 33RD ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PARADE

 

January 21, 2013 (Lemon Grove) -- City Council Members George Gastil and Racquel Vasquez represented Lemon Grove at the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, honoring the late civil rights activist.

Thousands of spectators lined the parade route on Harbor Drive, from the County Administration Building to the Midway Museum, to see more than 60 community groups, marching bands, and government organizations from throughout the country participate in the event.

PARADE OF LIGHTS FESTIVAL REFLECTS CENTENNIAL HERITAGE IN EL CAJON

December 18, 2012 (El Cajon ) – Vintage cars festooned in lights rolled down Main Street in El Cajon last week for the city’s first Parade of Lights.  The celebration continued at Prescott Promenade Park, where members of the San Diego Costume Guild garbed in Victorian attire—as well as some attractive Santa’s helpers, mingled with the crowd, evoking images of Christmas past and present.

47TH ANNUAL BORREGO DAYS DESERT FESTIVAL IS OCTOBER 26-28

October 26, 2012 (Borrego Springs) -- Grab the family and head out to California’s Secret Desert™, Borrego Springs, for the 47th Annual Borrego Days Desert Festival.  Friends and family will gather for this three-day local tradition to enjoy the Heart of the Desert in our own backyard.  

The free festival, dedicated to the memory of Dennis Avery (1940-2012), takes place on October 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and continues October 27 from 11:00 a.m.  to 10:00 p.m., and October 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

EL CAJON HOSTS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION COMMUNITY MEETING JULY 9

 
July 2, 2012 (El Cajon) – Come help the city of El Cajon plan its biggest event of the century!  On Monday, July 9 at 5:30 p.m. , the city invites the public to a Centennial Celebration Community Meeting at the Ronald Reagan Community Center, 195 E. Douglas Avenue in El Cajon.
City staff will be sharing the latest in Centennial Celebration plans. The City of El Cajon's 100th Birthday celebration is Monday, November 12, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fun events, a parade and entertainment are planned.

LA MESA SEEKS DONATIONS FOR FLAG DAY PARADE JUNE 2

 

April 8, 2012 -- La Mesa's Flag Day Parade committee is raising funds for this year's annual parade on Saturday, June 2nd. Our financial goal is $15,000 which will offset operational expenses, including transportation costs for school marching bands, public address equipment, and traffic control set up.
