July 10, 2017 (San Diego) – The California Highway Patrol is seeking information on a shooting that occurred following a dispute between two motorists July 8th at 2:45 p.m. on the I-5 southbound to State Route 163 northbound transition.

FREEWAY CAR SHOOTINGS REMAIN UNSOLVED

January 30, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) -- The latest car-to-car shooting incident earlier this month on Interstate 8 brings the total to three in the last year, and four in the last three years, prompting the question whether this stretch of freeway from 70th Street east to Los Coches Road is particularly dangerous.

SYCUAN BOOSTS REWARD TO $100,000 IN CASE OF XUSHA BROWN JR., VICTIM KILLED IN FREEWAY SHOOTING

September 7, 2013 (La Mesa)- Four months ago, 22-year-old Xusha Brown Jr. was shot in the head while a passenger in a vehicle driven by Malcolm Hune, heading home on May 5 at 4:00 a.m. He lived on the Sycuan reservation, oldest of nine children, and also worked at Sycuan. 

His mother, Deborah Flores, described him as “very loving, very kind hearted” at a press conference in La Mesa.

LA MESA FREEWAY SHOOTING VICTIM DIES: $50,000 REWARD OFFERED BY SYCUAN

May 6, 2013 (La Mesa) -- Xusha Brown Jr., 22, of El Cajon has died of a gunshot wound to his head.  Brown was one of two victims in a drive-by shooting that occured on I-8 east near State Route 125 shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

"The senseless murder of young Xusha Brown Jr. offends the conscience," Sycuan Chairman Daniel Tucker said. A $50,000 reward has been offered, including $40,000 from the tribe, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer

ARREST MADE IN SPRING VALLEY OVER FREEWAY SHOOTING

 

March 6, 2013 (Spring Valley) – Reynald Celendro was arrested yesterday in Spring Valley under suspicion of firing  in the direction of a motorist on Highway 52 in Tierrasanta near Santo Road earlier in the day.

CHP officers made the arrest in the 8900 block of Ildica Street in Spring Valley.  A pellet gun may have been involved.
