March 21, 2017 (San Diego) - For the second straight game, San Diego State put together a big inning to break open a close game as it went on to defeat Long Beach State, 12-5, Tuesday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

March 20, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State outfielder Tyler Adkison has earned Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week honors for games played through Sunday, March 19, 2017. It is the first MW weekly accolade of the season Adkison, a junior from Culver City, Calif.

March 19, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State put together a seven-run sixth inning to break open a close contest and went on to defeat UNLV 13-5 Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. With the win, the Aztecs captured the weekend series against the Rebels (two games to one) and improved to 13-7 (4-2 Mountain West) on the season.

March 18, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State used a 15-hit attack along with some solid pitching as it defeated UNLV 10-5, Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. With the win, the Aztecs evened the weekend series with the Rebels at a game apiece while improving their record to 12-7 overall and 3-2 in Mountain West play.

March 17, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State was unable to overcome an early five-run deficit as it dropped a 5-3 decision to UNLV Friday evening at Tony Gwynn Stadium. With the loss, the Aztecs saw their record drop to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Mountain West.

March 14, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State took the lead on the first pitch of the game and never looked back as it defeated No. 25 University of San Diego, 10-1, Tuesday evening at Fowler Park.

 

With the win the Aztecs improved to 11-6 on the season while the Toreros saw the end of a four-game win streak with their record settling in at 10-4. USD came into the contest ranked No. 25 by D1Baseball.com and just outside the Collegiate Baseball top 25 (26th) this week.

March 12, 2017 (Reno, Nev.) - San Diego State fell behind early and was unable to come back all the way as it dropped a 7-3 decision at Nevada Sunday afternoon at Peccole Park in Reno. The scenario was almost the exact opposite of the first two contests in the series when the Aztecs grabbed an early lead and went on to the victory.

March 10, 2017 (Reno) -  San Diego State scored four times in the top of the eighth inning to break open a tight contest and went on to defeat Nevada, 7-2, Friday afternoon at Peccole Park in Reno. The victory came in the Aztecs’ 2017 Mountain West opener.

March 7, 2017 (San Diego) - USC scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning and two relief pitchers made that marker stand up as the Trojans downed San Diego State, 1-0, Tuesday evening at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

March 5, 2017 (San Diego) - SDSU baseball played for the sweep of their weekend series against the Mustangs of Cal Poly this afternoon.  Freshman Hayden Petrovick got the first start of his career for the Aztecs against sophomore Bobby Ay for the Mustangs.

March 4, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State dug itself out of an early three-run deficit, scoring six times over the opening three innings, to defeat Cal Poly, 6-4, Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The win was the fourth in a row for the Aztecs, who improved to 7-4 on the season.

March 3, 2017 (San Diego) -  San Diego State opened its three-game weekend series against Cal Poly with a 5-0 victory over the Mustangs behind the pitching of Brett Seeburger, Jacob Erickson and Adrian Mardueno.

February 28, 2017 (Long Beach) - San Diego State combined timely hitting with a solid performance by the pitching staff to defeat Long Beach State, 6-2, Tuesday evening at Blair Field in Long Beach.

With the victory, the Aztecs improved to 5-4 on the season. LBSU, meanwhile, dropped to 4-4 as it saw a three-game win streak come to an end.

February 25, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State came back in dramatic fashion to defeat Notre Dame, 7-6, in the finale of the Tony Gwynn Classic Saturday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Earlier in the day, the Aztecs had dropped a 10-5 decision to Seton Hall in tournament play.

February 25, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State baseball played their first game in the second annual Tony Gwynn Baseball Classic tonight against the University of Tennessee.  The Classic was originally supposed to last until Sunday, but due to inclement weather, it has been reduced to Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with UC Irvine opening the tournament against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on Thursday night.  Senior lefty Brett Seeburger got the start for the Aztecs against another southpaw, junior Zach Warren for Tennessee.  The Volunteers faced Seton Hall earlier in the day.

February 23, 2017 (Fullerton, Calif.) - In a game that went back and forth, San Diego State had the final say as it defeated No. 7/11 Cal State Fullerton, 5-4, Wednesday evening at Goodwin Field. With the win, the Aztecs improved to 3-2 on the season while Fullerton saw its recorded drop to 2-2.

February 22, 2017 (Irvine, Calif.) - San Diego State was unable to recover from a five-run deficit after four innings as it dropped a 7-5 decision to UC Irvine Tuesday night at Anteater Ballpark. With the loss, the Aztecs evened their early season ledger at 2-2 while the Anteaters improved to 2-1.

February 19, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State scored 10 runs over the first four innings and four Aztec hurlers combined for a five-hit shout as SDSU defeated Pacific, 11-0, Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

February 18, 2017 (San Diego) - Right after the completion of Friday's rain-delayed opening day game, which the Aztecs won 11-5, both teams took the field again for game two.  This time, Pacific had the upper hand as they beat the Aztecs 5-1.

February 14, 2017 (San Diego) - After a win on Sunday at home against Nevada, Aztecs men's basketball heads out on the road tomorrow night to Logan, Utah to face Utah State.  Assistant coach Brian Dutcher and senior forward Matt Shrigley sat down with the media at today's press conference.

Joining them were the boys of summer:  baseball head coach Mark Martinez and senior starting pitcher Brett Seeburger.  This year's Aztecs feature four players from East County high schools--Hunter Stratton (junior catcher, Grossmont), Jordan Verdon (sophomore infielder, Granite Hills), Kenny LaPierre (another sophomore from Granite Hills and an Alpine native.  Right-handed pitcher) and Avery Tuck, a freshman outfielder from Steele Canyon.  The Aztecs open their season on Friday at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

November 10, 2016 (San Diego) - San Diego State baseball Head Coach Mark Martinez has announced the signing of 12 athletes for the 2018 season. The group of 12 incoming players, all of who will be freshman when they arrive on campus, includes consists nine pitchers, two infielders and an outfielder. Four of the signees double as position players in addition to pitching.



The group includes athletes from local highs schools including one each from Eastlake HS, Scripps Ranch HS, Santana HS, Valhalla HS and Montgomery HS. Six of the signees ranks among the top 20 in the state of California at their position with one ranking among the top 70 players in the country.

WHAT'S ON TAP THIS WEEKEND IN AZTEC BASEBALL

SDSU will be on the road this week for Mountain West play with a three-game series at conference foe New Mexico beginning Thursday, March 28, at 2:05 p.m. (MT) at Lobo Field in Albuquerque. The Aztecs and Rebels will also meet in singles games on Friday (March 29) and Saturday (March 30) at 2:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. respectively. The games were originally scheduled to be played at Isotopes Park, but have been moved to the on-campus Lobo Field with all three contests being played in the afternoon. The series runs Thursday through Saturday due to Easter falling on Sunday (March 31).

SERIES RECORD

SDSU leads its series against New Mexico by the count of 98-61. The Lobos have won 18 of the last 25 meetings between the teams dating back to the 2008 season. That mark includes the Lobos winning five of six during the 2012 regular season as well as the contest between the teams in the championship game of the 2012 Mountain West tournament. San Diego State has a record of 63-27 vs. UNM in San Diego, 31-30 in Albuquerque and 4-4 on neutral fields.
