January 25, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego will now only be home to one college football bowl game--the Holiday Bowl--instead of two.  Organizers announced they will be dropping the Poinsettia Bowl after 10 years.

December 21, 2016 (San Diego) - The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl was played on a cold, rainy night at Qualcomm between BYU and the team that was a thorn in SDSU’s side until they defeated them in this year's Mountain West championship game, Wyoming.

December 20, 2016 (San Diego) - To accommodate large crowds expected for the Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 21, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is increasing service and advising passengers to purchase tickets on the MTS mobile ticketing app to speed up boarding after the game.

ALUMNI GIVE POINSETIA BOWL TICKETS TO STUDENT VETERANS

December 22, 2014 (San Diego) - The Poinsettia Bowl kicks off on December 23rd with San Diego State’s Aztecs versus the Navy at Qualcomm Stadium. The crowd will include student veterans and their families, thanks to the generosity of SDSU’s alumni community, which donated over 225 tickets so far.

SDSU AZTECS TO FACE NAVY IN POINSETTIA BOWL

December 7, 2014 (San Diego) – When the Poinsettia Bowl kicks off at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on December 23rd, the San Diego State Aztecs will be making the team’s fifth consecutive bowl appearance.  This year, the Aztecs will be playing the Navy.

POINSETTIA BOWL KICKS OFF DEC. 26 IN SAN DIEGO

 

December 23, 2013 (San Diego) – The Utah State Aggies and Northern Illinois Huskies will play in the 9th annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, 2013 Bowl President Bill Geppert announced today. It marks the second appearance in the San Diego bowl game for the Huskies and the first for the Aggies.

The SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26 at Qualcomm Stadium and will be televised on ESPN.

AZTECS TO TACKLE COUGARS IN POINSETTIA GAME THURSDAY AT QUALCOMM

December 19, 2012 (San Diego) – Tomorrow night’s Poinsettia Bowl game between the San Diego State University Aztecs and the Brigham Young University Cougars will be the 36th meeting between the two teams—and the first since BYU’s final season in the Mountain West in 2010.

Kick-off sis at 5 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium for this year’s Poinsettia Bowl, sponsored by the San Diego County Credit Union.

December 19, 2011(San Diego) -- The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is expanding Trolley service for the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on December 21. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. and fans can park for free at MTS park-and-rides to avoid traffic and parking hassles.

HOLIDAY MIRACLE: AZTECS WIN POINSETTIA BOWL WITH 35-14 WIN OVER MIDSHIPMEN

December 25, 2010 (San Diego) - The San Diego State University Aztecs won a bowl game for the first time in 41 years with a 35-14 victory over the U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen Thursday night (12/23) at Qualcomm Stadium. Ronnie Hillman scored four touchdowns and rushed for 228 yards to lead the offense.

That the game even took place as scheduled was nothing short of a miracle. Flooding from recent storms submerged the field in water up to two feet deep in some places 24 hours before the game.

November 28, 2009 (San Diego) -- San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU), with three local branch offices in El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee, has announced it has extended its title sponsorship of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl through the 2010 game, with options for 2011 and 2012.
